Might be a fair trade. But maybe the Leafs value 4.15m in cap space more than first rounder.
Canucks have those anchor contacts of Miller and Boesner for sure. Why would anyone including Horvat want to sign with the Canucks?

What if the Canucks pick is in the top 10?

Yeah, it's tempting. I wonder if the Leafs could offload Boesner for lets say the Leafs at season end for 1st rounder.

Take out the picks and it’s probably at least possible, but I think the Canucks are going to try to get something back for Boeser.

I don't think Boeser's a "needs a 1st rounder" cap dump at this point in his career - he's still producing (4-12-16 in 20 GP, a 66 point pace). Sean Monahan had a similar cap hit, is 3 years older, and was coming off a major surgery and two seasons of bad production to cost a 1st rounder.

Vancouver doesn't need to clear cap in-season - their best move should be to showcase him as much as possible and move him at 2x$6.65M this summer when contending teams will have more cap space available and you might be able to even create a bidding war.

I know Sean Monahan's case is a bit different considering he only has 1Y left on his contract, but he's playing well for the Habs and could be extended while getting a first

Not a chance Canucks retain on Boeser and throw in a lottery pick just to move him

Which is exactly why the Canucks aren’t paying to dump Boeser.
