Florida "solving" their cap issues by sending out a good player on a good contract is certainly an idea...

Maybe they shouldnt have given a 10 mil contract to a goalie and they wouldnt have too

I mean...or they can just ship Hornqvist out...or, alternatively, trade a Bennett/Duclair/Reinhart for a dman...but sure, Mitts and a late 2nd fixes this...

not sure if you keep up day to day but they did basically say they were not touching hornqvist. Sure imo duclair and reino are better than bennett but whatever floats your boat

Buffalo should really only be upgrading their 3rd line with more defensive energy/grinder types with some offensive flair. Bennett is fine, but thats never going to happen. Maybe someone like Jason Dickenson would work well in there with Asplund and Hino

Boeser, just go ahead and forget about that one - delete the trade its not something buffalo should do anyway

Or from the Sabres view, knowing that this season isn't a player season. Don't make the trades, have 15m in cap (by not acquiring those players), spend that 15 on two good UFAs, and keep the first, second and two thirds. The players that the Sabres traded could be given away or not resigned.

I mean tbh the ufa route does not intrigue me, seen that fail too many times to rely on big signings of older players on the decline
