Isles get Meier

Created by: Ryan44
Team: 2022-23 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 10, 2022
Published: Dec. 10, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Isles will accumulate more cap space over the next few weeks that will allow these moves to fit under the cap
Trades
1.
NYI
  1. Meier, Timo
  2. 2023 5th round pick (CBJ)
Additional Details:
Isles must be given prior assurance Meir will Re-sign with Isles around $9 million X 8 years
SJS
  1. Dufour, William
  2. Salo, Robin
  3. 2023 1st round pick (NYI)
  4. 2023 4th round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
This package should be relatively close to what the sharks will get in a return, I included Dufour over Raty b/c I figured a winger would be preferable for SJS but Raty could be swapped for Dufour here if that would provide better value
2.
ANA
  1. Bailey, Josh
  2. Wilde, Bode
  3. 2024 4th round pick (NYI)

You said "Isles must be given prior assurance Meir will Re-sign with Isles around $9 million X 8 years".

That's unlikely to happen, chances are that any team that trades for Meier this year is bringing him in as a rental. Meier would have to find playing for the Isles attractive for him to commit to resigning without even playing a game for them.

What's wrong with Bode Wilde? Why is he with the ECHL and not with Bridgeport in the AHL?

I'd be more interested in Bolduc. Seeing as you just acquired Romanov and Bolduc looses his waivers exemption next year, he seems like a luxury for NYI to hang onto.

Sharks already have a ton of small wingers, it’s raty or they won’t trade him there

Not *just* playing in the ECHL - playing for the Arizona Coyotes' ECHL affiiliate!!

Few things with Bode - most of them seem to be self-inflicted. He came into the draft with some concerns about being a little stubborn and self-centered, and the biggest example came last season when Lou wanted everyone coming to camp to be vaccinated, and Wilde refused - Lou basically banished him to Sweden after that.

Follow up with the fact that he didn't really turn any heads playing in the Swedish version of the AHL last season (10 pts in 41 GP isn't really a great look for a guy sold as an offensive RHD) and you can see why he's kind of just languishing now. OP treating him like a positive asset is a stretch here - he's mayyyyybe got 4th/5th round value in a trade package, IMO. I would think Anaheim would pass on this deal because Henrique is a more valuable trade chip than Bailey, and the extras coming from the Isles don't do enough to push it over.

What's the story on Bolduc? Seems like the acquisition of Romanov this off-season was a vote of no confidence?

Not at all just bolduc was a couple years away from being a top 4 dman when they got Romanov. Bolducs been really good this year (has 19 points in 22 games in the AHL)
