Published: Dec. 11, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Might as well.
Only team ahead of us in waiver order is Anaheim so its worth a shot I guess. We also have a very unclogged top 6 and he'd look better than Khaira on the power play lol

Worst case scenario we have another bottom 6 guy for next year

I'd claim him. Especially if KD is planning a sell off at the TDL. Going to need players to put on the ice.

This is the kind of thing we have to at least attempt to do. The best case scenario is he figures it out with more consistent icetime and becomes a decent 3rd liner or even second liner for the next 5 years, with the possibility hes worth a 3rd round pick next deadline. The worst case scenario is hes bad and we eat an almost entirely buriable contract for next season or buy him out for extremely cheap. This team is one of the worst offenses in the league and I think this move is low risk potentially decent reward with the added benefit it should make the team slightly more watchable while likely not moving the needle enough to change the tank plan.

No need to do anything with the contract at all. Even if Toews and Kane do come back, you're looking at at least 6 million in salary in pay cuts, and thats a very big if. Gonna need some people to pay. Need some warm bodies.

Yeah he's on PP2, but still far from ideal. It has certainly been rough, but I've been advocating for a teardown since '19. It's always fun to clown on the leafs for that streak, but if anywhere deserves a cup, it's Toronto. Genuinely, once they get past the first round, I think they'll go all the way through.

agree. Said to a lot of friends last year winner of TOR-TBL was going to the final. Prediction was right, just wish it wasn't for TBL lol, just a bounce or two away from beating them too which hurts.

To be fair a large majority of our fanbase deserves the clowning. Lot of misinformed/bandwagon/etc fans. But the pocket of die-hard fans deserves it.
