Wishful thinking TDL

Created by: DH28Hockey
Team: 2022-23 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 12, 2022
Published: Dec. 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
PHI
  1. Behrens, Sean [Reserve List]
  2. Compher, J.T.
  3. 2023 1st round pick (COL)
COL
  1. Hayes, Kevin ($3,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Hayes has been roughly a PPG player since healing from his injury last season. For a cap strapped team, Hayes @4AAV to play 2C for the next few years would be a good fit for Colorado IMO
2.
EDM
  1. MacEwen, Zack
  2. Provorov, Ivan
Additional Details:
Probably my favorite Flyer not named Giroux over the last decade, but I think his time in Philly is coming to an end. Management consistently failing to give him an even decent partner while throwing him into overly workload heavy roles kind of ruined his career here, but for a player who can eat a ton of minutes, doesn't miss games, and has shown a very high ceiling, I think he'd thrive on another team.

MacEwen added to help address toughness for EDM
3.
PHI
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (NJD)
NJD
  1. van Riemsdyk, James ($3,500,000 retained)
  2. 2023 4th round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
JVR can be a cheaper option than a Tarasenko or Kane at the TDL, and has performed quite well to start this season and end of last season. I don't think it's totally far fetched to assume he could net a 2nd to help a team on the PP at the Deadline
4.
PHI
  1. 2023 3rd round pick (TOR)
5.
PHI
  1. 2024 7th round pick (MIN)
MIN
  1. Sedlak, Lukas
Additional Details:
Sedlak has been better than I thought he would be, I think he'll get a 7th from a team at the deadline

Don’t think this is a deal the Avs would go for. They LOVE compher and don’t think they deal their top Prospect and a 1st for a guy who doesn’t really fit their system.

That right-side defence is probably the worst 3 defensive d men in the league. But it just means a better chance at Bedard

the hayes trade in a vacuum makes sense, and good to see a col 2c trade that takes next season's cap into consideration. that said, don't see them trading a roster player while trying to contend, depleting 2 out of 3 of their only prime assets with how drained their pipeline already is, and doing so for a guy who doesn't skate at the clip col does.

I think it'd have to be at least a 2nd for Philly to do that. I'm not super high on Frost but that's the type of trade where Philly takes risk of making an enormous mistake
