Are the Wings going to be sellers? Couldn’t get a good feeling watching the game with the Canes last night.

Last night should have shown everyone that it makes no sense to buy. Detroit is doing better than expected, and the new pieces have been great, but it’s a marathon not a sprint.

The “streak” ended due to lack of prospects and over buying just to make the playoffs. SY has shown patience in Detroit and things are progressing, so it’s hard to imagine being a buyer when the window most likely opens in 2 years.

Detroit have 11 players on expiring contracts and several prospects that will need roster spots next year so I expect them to be selling off several players in order to gain picks/prospects to continue the rebuild.

We have too many LW so Fabbri and Erne could be available and on defense there are Hägg, Pysyk, Oesterle, Walman, and maybe also Määttä that could be traded. Then there's the question mark regarding Bertuzzi and whether he'll resign or not.

None of those guys are gonna wow anyone to get a good return. Ras and Veleno only get dealt if they bring in a better player not for middling picks. Suter is delt at the deadline for whatever we can get.

Correct, which is why MIN and DET make sense as trade partners. The Wild have done a great job accounting for the two buyout anchors, and Detroit has low cost items they can parcel off.
A Suter retained for a 3rd in 2024 seems fair if he can show BG he is an improvement to the Wild top 9.

Now if MIN wants a true number 1, or a solidified top 6, then no they won’t be interested.

MN is pretty logjammed for bottom 6 forwards as is, but I could potentially see a fit with Rasmussen or Sunny, depending on ask and our injuries as the year goes on.

That’s kind of how I meant it. By no means are these two teams seeking each other out, but it makes sense that a trade could be made in some regard. The Wild needs and Detroit needs match.

No I know - it's a good observation. I was just adding some additional context from my point of view as a Wild fan. I agree that it's a fun little side storyline/perspective to monitor with tonight's game.

Obviously it's more likely that nothing materializes, but if something were to happen, it would be fun to look back at.

Suter (half retained) and make him wear #20 in MN. I want this to happen just for s***s and giggles.
