We are not bringing back Gambrell.

And DeBrincat and Pinto both get more.

With the cap only rising $1M we can't buyout Zaitsev.

We are going to have to trade him after the signing bonus has been paid and add a sweetener. It shouldn't cost too much, with him only carrying a $2.5M salary. Teams like Chicago who is losing $27M in salary in 4 players will need to hit the floor. Other rebuilding teams (Arizona, Columbus, Anaheim) might be interested in higher cap than actual salary.

Unless that Dman is high end RD under 26, it’s not happening

The problem is there’s none available or a team would make available. I would trade Cat for someone like Pulock tbh.

lol very creative of you, one of the best dmen in the show for a soon to be overpaid winger.

Well he’s worth more than any 2nd pair Dman. If I’m taking an avergae 2nd pair guy then he better come with a 1st or good prospect. Severson extended and Holtz sure .

how is he worth anywhere near that? At 6M he was arguably not worth Korchinski ++ but at 9M he's not worth more than a late 1st at best.

He’s an RFA not ufa . A late 1st? Really? Chicago wanted the highest pick they could get and sacrificed everything else for it because they didn’t have their own pick. The Sens will not want a futures based deal. If he’s traded it’s for a similar Dman

If they can’t get a good Dman, they’re going to give him the money he’d be asking for. Not worth trading him for a late 1st and no top even UFA would only get a late 1st. We’ll see what Horvat goes for this year. And Debrincat is not a ufa

Horvat is a center which is far more valuable, doesn't matter if he's UFA or RFA if minimum qualifying offer is 9M

Ok sounds like you want them to trade him for a late 1st and set the rebuild back a few years

late 1st in value =/= "trade him for late 1st"

They SHOULD trade him for someone like Ekholm, Fowler, don't be picky when you desperately need RD and a netminder

Bruh what. Those players aren’t good, old and overpaid into their late years. They’re not good enough. Neither Ekholm or Fowler is worth a 1st. Borderline cap dump for Fowler and Ekholm maybe worth what McDonagh got

By every metric. Why the heck would the Sens trade a guy who just turned 25 for a 30+ year old with term. That’s so stupid. The Sens aren’t win now to acquire super old vets

Gambrell shouldn't be extended, hell, he shouldn't even be here now.
Lodin clears waivers but Sokolov might not, and neither are waiver exempt next season.
Debrincat (fingers crossed) signs a long term deal with a value somewhere between Tkachuk and Stützle.
Pinto and Talbot each get 500K more, but Brannstrom can be had for $1.1M.

You seem very confident in what you're saying

So this is based on what?

NHL teams scout every league. My own scouting is that this is the opposite. I am picking up Lodin on waivers 100%. Well Sokolov too because why the hell not but I find it's more likely that Lodin sticks in the NHL. Sokolov first 3 steps is still a problem and unfortunately might always be
