Description

Calm down Devil's fans. I'm doing this because I believe this is the move that sends you to the finals. You can scour all the MEANINGFUL team stats and no matter which way you cut it, goaltending is what drags you down.

***The only thing I don't know if which dman it makes more sense for you to move. I know you're likely to lose one of either Graves or Severson, yes?*** The other option is Marino, but I doubt you guys move him.

I didn't add any picks being swapped because FLA is retaining and also taking back Vanacek's contract.

With Bob’s contract, even at 5 mil, he’s probably not a positive enough value to pull Severson from NJ. Plus I doubt FL real wants to retain on Bob for a rental

I'd imagine FLA would probably extend him.

Then they wouldn’t have the space to do much of anything else, or they would need to do more gymnastics.
Value wise, it’s a bad trade for NJ, but the value isn’t even enough to make FL go through what they would need to ice a full roster in 23-24

Anytime you can give up assets & dedicate 4x$7M to a 34 year old goalie with one above-average season since 2019 and an .895 SV% this year, you just gotta do it. I don't see how this move gets the Devils over the top - Vanecek actually has better numbers this year (.909SV%, 2.41 GAA vs. that .895 & 3.29 GAA) so I'm not sure why the Devils would throw in Severson, too? And it's not like Bobrovsky has any sort of playoff track record to fall back on - he's a career .901/3.13 in 51 playoff GP.

This makes very little sense for the Devils.

They’re only projected to have 10.4m in space. Sevo’s ask os probably going to be close to the 6-7AAV

you should never give a goalie more than 5.5m per and even then its pushing it

Last I checked was before knight contract. You right. Hell get 5.5 in Florida with no taxes not sure if he’s take it not but I’m trying to ban on Florida not trading any one and signing garikov or zub or orlov who might be more money.

I'm a Pens fan. The Devils need to upgrade their goaltending and there really aren't many options, but Bobs behind a solid defense? He'd be great.

But Bob isn't an upgrade over Vanecek in the slightest.
Vanecek is currently playing like a top 15-20 netminder in the NHL, Bob is barely backup quality.
In effect you're just suggesting that the Devils get worse in defence, in net and in regards to the cap for no gain whatsoever.
It's nonsensical.
