Cap will go up enough to cover after next season anyway. Rangers find an easy way to match.

What is everyone's hard on to put Laf in MTL? Let NYR keep deploying him on the 4th line and ruin him completely, we can draft someone else.

I agree it would be hard for NYR to match. MTL spent 3.5M on Dach last summer. I think they would sign Laf at 4.2M

Dach was stuck playing 3rd/4th line in Chicago too. I think Lafreniere would be even better than Dach in MTL.

I think MTL could try something like this but I am sure NYR has a plan in place if they do. It is possible for them to match but all notions of them being cup contenders would be gone if they did.

They could trade Goodrow and fill out the roster with minimum wage players. It is possible and I would match it. Force Canadians to go really high and play more picks to get him. They sort of have too in this case.

I realize you mean this as a dig on the Habs but, the KK debacle has worked out for MTL... we don't miss him in the slightest.

Then if/when he ends up in FA (or NYR have a discount firesale) he'll don the bleu blanc rouge and we'll find out. Until then we'll draft our own players and build the rest of the team up.
