Are people overreaction about Slafkovksy's situation?

What are your thoughts on Slafkovsky right now? Was he a good pick? Is the criticism way too harsh on him? We he do fine?

Still too early to tell, pre draft I had Wright at 1, but in the end, we have no idea who is the best player from the class right now and only time will tell what happens

In my eyes, Wright is not the pick in any situation. But Cooley, Nemec or Jiricek maybe is

Pre draft I had Wright at 1, right now, I have no idea who I’d peg at 1, there’s like 5 different guys who could be that plus I’m sure we’ll see some late bloomers turn into superstars

Looking at his draft-year stats, Slafkovsky's NHLe scores ranged widely from 3.293 to 24.955 based on which league you took as the focus of his actual production. His average NHLe was 14.899 but the metric cannot take his hot streak to end out the year into account. Juraj's current 82-game pace has his 82-game point production at 23.429, suggesting he's riding the higher end of his projections. He's performing essentially as expected.

If Montreal was expecting a 50-goal scoring, point-per-game winger right off the hop, then expectations were merely far too high. The Canadiens simply didn't have the strength across their roster to maximize that kind of production out of any of their players. It's probably going to take about 5 years in order to determine a more or less "set" redraft of the 2022 class. Make the decision as to whether or not Juraj was the right pick then. The trick moving forward is going to be development and roster construction.

I give players time maybe around 4 years then I determine how good they are

Way too early to tell who the best pick was. Give it 3-4 years to tell.

As of right now I'd say

1.Cooley
2. Nemec
3. Slaf
4. Wright

but that changes weekly. Let it play out.

i dont think hes been a good pick, however he hasnt been a bad pick either. it was either wright or slafkovsky at 1 and we all knew that (cooley was out of the question). wright has been completely mismanaged in seattle, slafkovsky has been somewhat mismanaged in MTL (4th line mins) but its better than wright.
however we wont know for a few years who the right pick is
