The current roster is doing exactly what it was designed to do. Hawks will acquire the veteran players they need through free agency and through trades where they get a pick or prospect for taking on an unwanted contract.

Anaheim will want at least one high-quality future value for any player traded at the deadline. For Kulikov, that's at least a third-round draft pick; for Klingberg, it's at least a second-round draft pick and a good prospect. Noel is scoring at the rate of one point every three games -- in the AHL. Anaheim has two better prospects at RW who are outperforming Noel now even though they're younger. The only way that we would accept that offer is if it was for Simon Benoit or Austin Strand, both of whom have NHL experience.
