Description
We're already familiar with VAN as a trade partner this season due to the Ethan Bear deal so there might be some goodwill here.

Horvat - lock him in with an endorsement deal with Bojangles and sign that man long-term as your 2C/3C.

Kuz is a great option to play the wing of a guy like KK. He's a sniper and pairing him with a responsible center who is pass-first and a guy like Jarvis who is a very smart player on the ice would be deadly.

Schenn is a great depth option who is a veteran and has experience - a major upgrade over Coughlin at this point in his career.

That is an insanely high price to pay for a 2C/3C, guy who slots on the 4th line, and defender who you have scratched

I could see a move for Kuzmenko and maybe even Schenn if Coghlan goes the other way. But Horvat is still a no go, since he doesn’t fit the Canes defensive style, and is almost certainly not going to sign with the Canes.

Canucks pass easily. A late 1st and a bunch of meh doesn’t even get you close. For all three you’re looking at your 2023 1st, Morrow, ++

Doubt Canucks accept that. It's too many contracts and in reality the picks are the only real value there.

Horvat should return a 1st and decent prospect on his own. Kuz should return another 1st on his own. And Schenn probably a 3rd.

I'd rather 2 1sts, a good prospect, and a third than a bunch of filler contracts

This is such a ridiculous comment. How would you know he doesn’t fit the system? He’s never played the Canes system before, for all any of us knows he flourishes in that system. You know he was touted as a great defensive 2 way player earlier in his career right? And he’s still pretty good 2 way player just not a pk specialist (or maybe he is on a better team). But you wouldn’t know that since you probably never watched him play.

Alright, I’ll bite. Hypothetically, if he were on a team that actually had a structured defense like the Canes, and he were to flourish in that system, we still wouldn’t know because the Canes won’t make the move for Horvat. And there are a couple of reasons for that: 1) there are better options available that would, hypothetically, be a better fit; 2) his contract status as a rental is one of the reasons that would sink a deal, since he has never had the kind of production he is putting up this year, both the cost for acquisition and what he demands on his next contract, the Canes are very likely to pay up for either, with Waddell likely to look at the similarities that are showing between Miller last season and Horvat now; 3) there have been rumblings about Horvat potentially wanting to play closer to his London, Ontario home, so that would put Carolina as a place he would consider extending with far down the list, and this would be the other factor that would sink a deal.

You say he was once touted as a great 2-way center? Where is that 2-way center now? I won’t blame the entire team’s inability for defense on Horvat, but he hasn’t exactly been the stable guiding light you are propping him up as. I wouldn’t be the biggest expert on Horvat just based on time zone differences and local blackouts, but every now and then I do watch the national broadcast in games the Canucks are in. I will agree someone will make the trade for Horvat, it just won’t be the Canes. For the reasons above, and also for the fact that he is over performing in a contract eligible year, it won’t be the Canes that make that mistake. But I digress. We can agree to disagree, since we both know neither of us will budge on our points. Cheers and have a great rest of your day.

Seems realistic- the old run of the mill 13 asset trade. Get bored with these after a while.

I'd take Kuzmenko and Schenn for like, a prospect like Suzuki, Coghlan and a 1st or something. Take out Horvat and all the other filler.
