Those two pieces might be enough to get Horvat idk about the prospect but then you have to pay to get rid of Dumba. At least another first to move him now.

Whut?

Dumba isn't a cap dump, multiple teams are interested in him as it is. Ottawa and Edmonton, have both already been linked to him. Minnesota doesn't have to pay to move him, at all.

Chiarot, a worse player, got a 1st at last years deadline. Dumba should bring back at least that much.

Furthermore, Minnesota should not be moving their #2 center prospect for 4 months of a pure rental. A career 2nd-line center who is having a career year and is worth half of what people suggest he is.

One of Haight, Bankier, or Petrovský. Sure, but Khusnutdinov should be off limits.

Chiarot had a much lower cap hit with retention and they're both the same on WAR the last couple years. Dumba's play drop off is akin to Myers and I don't expect us to get anything for Myers when he's a pending. Myers would have the same hit as Dumba.

PS: lmao on the half Horvat worth. What are you basing that on? Pure imagination?

Career 60 point player playing out of his head (career year) in his age 28 season. The prices Canucks fans have been asking for him are prices I would only pay for a legitimate 1C on a long-term contract. Not a career 2C who's a UFA and strictly a rental to the team being proposed here.

Rental prices for a rental 2C. It's not hard to fathom here.

first, a- prospect and we retain half. or first and two b prospects and we retain.

If that doesn't float your boat thats fine. You think Dumba is worth value. Min might have to ship this prospect you like with him just to pick up cap space to compete.

It's weird because Dumba used to be good but then again, so did OEL.

Gentlemen,
Both guys are rentals, as neither will be resigned if traded for each other.
Raz - Dumba has been on a downward trend for 4 years, and struggles in his own end. I love the guy, but he's gonna ask for too much money. Teams like OTT and EDM will overpay for him cause they're desperate for a back end presence.
Horvat is having a career year (like so many other contract year guys in the past). He's gonna be traded as a pure rental, and @reelkena is right, he's get a first and a good prospect at half retained. And he'll drastically improve a team that probably can't afford him next year. He'd be MIN's first line center (maybe in a 1A / 1B with Ek)

At the end of the day, this trade doesn't work for MIN cause they're not getting any future, and honestly, they're not in a position to make a deep run unless Fleury regains his form, and Boldy starts to play like he's capable of. I mean, c'mon..... last year it was Hartman as a #1 C and now it's Sam Steel? MIN is a couple years away from competing seriously and they need their first. They should be trading Dumba, Greenway, Reeves etc for picks and prospects and get some of their youth in the line up (Rossi, Beckman esp).

VAN is in the same boat, though they get a pretty good return for Horvat in this trade. They need to move him and a few other guys to reshape the team. Personally, I think the management screwed this team over royally by signing Miller to his deal, and by trading for OEL. Those two moves have crippled this franchise, because they can never truly rebuild, and they will never truly contend.

Horvat is starting to pace above a stand alone career year.
His stats since Bruce began coaching is genuinely elite and he has always been a goal scorer (average 30 goal pace for 5 years)
Bo’s face off ability is the more underrated part of his game that would cause teams to pay overs (average above 56% for 2 seasons now), you want a centre who can win defensive face offs and push forward for big goals.

The fact he primarily gets deployed in defensive face offs and match-ups probably indicates if he goes to a strong club where he can play more offensive minutes he becomes a high producing two-way centre only hitting his prime now after reduced Covid seasons extending his prime window.
