STL Blues - No Mo Pond Hockey

Created by: PuckShmuck87
Team: 2022-23 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 13, 2023
Published: Jan. 13, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It's clearly time for the Blues to rebuild. DA has screwed the pooch, decimating the roster that won a Cup, signing middling and/or specialty LD to crazy $$ and term, passing out NTCs as though they were candy, allowing valuable FAs to walk, then signing Kyrou, a world class pond hockey player lacking any inclination to play a 200' game, to $8M x 8. Can Armstrong, kiss the O'Reilly era good bye and rebuild around a few core veterans, Robert Thomas and Buchnevich. The Blues desperately need a legit #1 LHD and Chychrun appears to be the only guy available. Add some size and grit. Not only will it win you a few games, but you'll need it to keep your young prospects healthy. Lastly, Greiss is a luxury at this point. If you can trade him for a prospect or high draft choice, do it.

In the off-season, the Blues will have the cap space to retain who they will and then pursue a top-six forward or two, especially if Barby and Compher walk.

The Isles' weak PP might be all that keeps them out of the playoffs and I'm looking for any team with cap space to take him. Plus, he might waive his NTC for a NE team.

Then don't.

I love Eddy, but Bolduc stays. I think the Blues would be a better team with Edmondson, but the Habs need to take Scandella in the deal. If Kravtsov isn't enough to make this deal palatable, I'd throw in another young guy or a 3rd.

According to insiders the ask for Edmundson would be a Chiarot-like return (1st, 4th and a B/C prospect). That was for Chiarot at 50% retained ($1.75M). I would assume for that kind of return Montreal would take a similar contract like Scandella.

As it currently stands that's a no from the Avs, they're below you in the standings.

True, but everyone believes the Avs will make in and then go deep in the playoffs. The Blues are no better than first round toast.

Interesting. Doubt that the Blues would pay that price.

A small 31 year old Dman who's on long term IR and has 5 yrs at 6.5M per year. LOL....First who the hell would want that deal? 2nd, and the Isles aren't but if they would take him off your hands, you need to fork over a 1st if not more.

The Blues are not trading for Eddy, and they sure as hell aren't trading Bolduc.
