Absolutely not by the avs. They aren’t trading Newhook for a rental or trading 2 roster players, making their depth is the opposite of helpful

Pretty sure COL isn’t moving Newhook, he’s not a prospect anymore. Olausson, sure. But I could see it happen if COL moves into top 3 in the central before the TDL.

Gotta assume they’d pay to launder the money again to keep their roster intact.

They’d pay an extra late round pick for double retention. Get Horvat for a 1.75ish cap hit.

AVS aren't dealing Newhook for a player they have zero chance of re-signing in Bo Horvat.

LOL a 1st round pick for Brock Boeser isn't happening, And Allvin isn't retaining on Boeser.

That’s not the issue,,avs aren’t moving prone assets for a player they can’t keep

I know you’re the Avs fan but I’d take Horvat on that team. All but guarantees them a trip to the cup final again if they’re healthy.

It doesn’t guarantee them anything. A trade like this kills their bottom 6 and pk. It creates holes else where in the line up

Plus next year even worse problems

They don’t bees do burn what future assets they have left for a player who would be the 5th or 6th best player

Totally fair. We’re talking O’Connor as the bot 6/PK guy right? He shouldn’t be involved, so I agree there. Just saying if, and it’s a big if, the team gets healthy then Horvat would be a tipping point acquisition IMO.

Sakic will get the value he needs regardless, he’s one GM I trust will make the moves that work.

Newhook as well, he’s an everyday nhl player and a big cog of the team going fwd.

Horvat is the video game add. It would be fun but the business to make it work doesn’t make sense for the avs. They can’t afford it asset wise

Sakic and Macfarland will make a move and add but they will be more conservative with the costs. If you burn all your futures too soon it really hurts the roster. Florida is the modern example of this. They can’t add anymore. All they can do is subtract from their roster trying to make it better

Sorry, I forgot to say Newhook and O’Connor aren’t going anywhere. I assume the player would be Olausson going back. I see your point.

Even with Oskar, thats another close to nhl ready prospect theh don’t have to fill their roster next year.

Pure rentals at high asset costs just don’t make a lot of sense right now

They could move a guy like Oskar but they have to be a kr to keep the guy or they have term already. It’s a more selective approach this deadline imo

Yeah. FYI, I’m a Wild fan and I see COL overtaking MN before the season is done. I just love what they’ve been able to put together, the injuries have just put them on the back foot.

It’s been toug with the injuries but they have been playing awful too, it’s finally catching up to them, the top guys are getting over played

They need health and good luck. One trade isn’t gong to fix things so I hope they are more cautious this deadline, they need to be back to play avs brand hockey before they start thinking of adding

Yeah, deadline “adds” of Mac, Manson, and Nichuskin should help.

Landeskog Byram Nichushkin Manson are the big guns out right now
Malgin and Helm are also out. They just got Rodrigues back again the other day

The injuries have been every other day of someone leaving the game or not at practice, and its always week to week

You are 2 months to late to tank. Chicago, SJ, Anaheim and CBJ you'll never catch
