Mercer, Nemec, 2023 1st sounds closer
Bratt would be nice but I don't think a winger should be the main return for petey

So wouldn’t it be Pettersson, prospect, pick for Bratt?

Mercer is basically a winger in NJ. He take draws occasionally, but for the most part he plays RW here. Which is why I went for the best one on the team here
That would be a deal that I would be fine seeing from NJ though, if AJ was included for cap reasons.

It’s not. It’s not remotely close - I’m not a fan of either team.

Not sure I think that heavy of a cost is justifiable if Bratt is going the other way.

You can think whatever you want, but anyone that looks at this with any objectivity will think that it is ridiculously far off.

Would have thought it was obvious but:

New Jersey isn’t giving up nearly enough value.

Yea they’re both spectacular imo. Bratt has slightly better impacts if I remember right, but we’re talking about two top players regardless

Sort of seems like you’re asking me to explain why 2+2=4.

Elias Pettersson is WAY better than Jesper Brat. That’s why. Contract situation for Pettersson is better as well, and he plays a more important position.

Hes a good player. “Stupid good,” seems like an exaggeration. Tied for 48th in scoring over the term you just identified doesn’t exactly strike me as, “stupid good.”

I mean that’s not necessarily true. Bratt has a better corsi%, gf%, xWAR, and xGAR compared to EP having a better GAR, WAR, and more points on the year. Didn’t delve too into it past there, but they’re both very very good at hockey

Regarding the contracts, it’s probably a better situation with EP, but there are still the rumblings that EP is growing frustrated in Vancouver. Either way I’d still prefer the EP contract

Didn’t delve into it past there? Why not just watch a game dude. It’s pretty clear who the better player is. I think the poster that suggested adding a first and Holtz to this was spot on. That might not be enough, but certainly gets the conversation going.

Another thing to factor in on top of just raw value is the situation. If the canucks are trading Pettersson it like signifies a tear down. In that situation, bratt would be of minimal interest.

what does watching the game have to do with this? I’ve watched both play, and both are fantastic with the eye test, and I wouldn’t have said both are tremendous players without having watched either play

Rutherford just said today that he would want young NHLers instead of futures. They aren’t doing a tear down

I doubt he considers bratt young. If they made this trade today, bratt would really only be controlled for this year and next.

Anyway, I’m just not really interested in discussing xGAR and xWAR.
