what I would want to see next year

Created by: HabsFan33
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 19, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I didn't include Barron on the roster but since he'll still be waiver exempt next season, MTL can bring him up whenever they want and send him down without fear of losing him.

It goes without saying that Wideman spends most of next season in the press box.

Other than the trades of Eddy and Andy, no need to chase UFAs. Stick to the process of development and get one more year of ****ty results and hope for another top 5 pick in 2024. By then, Hoffman, Wideman and Pitlick will be off the books and you can then chase some big time UFAs.

As for the goalies, depending on the what kind of camp Primeau has next year, he starts in MTL to delay him going to Laval. I just feel if he's sent down prior to the start of the season, he may get picked up. But once the NHL rosters are set, maybe teams skip over him. EIther way its a gamble but I'm just not sure he's NHL ready.

  1. Edmundson, Joel
Additional Details:
traded either at the deadline in 2023, draft or offseason. Not sure the return and not the point of the post.
2.

Again, not sure what a return would be like but that's not the point of the post.
    NJD
    1. Anderson, Josh
    Additional Details:
I believe Anderson gets traded at the draft. Not sure what the return will be and whether or not NJ would have interest. The point is if there is an opportunity to move Anderson without retaining, Hughes has to do it since trading Gally will be impossible.

    I like that overall
But Harris is playing a lot & on the top 4
He is ahead of Xhekaj and Kovacevic, so he will play top 4 over Kovacevic. He will make 1.4M+ IMO
Depending where we are drafting, we should sign Monahan to a one year deal. If we draft somehow Bedard/Fantilli/Carlsson/Smith, sign him one year. If we draft Benson/Sale or a winger/dman, then we could sign someone like Bo Horvat

I mostly agree with you but I think with Hutson coming and Guhle, Matheson and Xhekaj on the left already that Harris may also be moved this offseason. Perhaps for a RHD.

i dont think harris is the one that goes. imo norlinder and xhekaj will both be gone soon, as much as i hate to say it.
NYI paid handsomely for Romanov, and Xhekaj brings similar elements to his game. a team will overpay for him, the MTL fans are gonna hate it until we get the next Kirby Dach back for him.
Norlinder is the 5th best LD prospect now (Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj, Hutson, maybe Engstrom too), and it's wasting his potential if he just sits in the AHL forever

I really envy your future left side of Guhle/Harris/Xhekaj, especially since my left side right now is Mikey Anderson - stiff - stiff.

    Sean Durzi for Arber Xhekaj.

like i said i think that a GM is gonna overpay for Xhekaj-- Romanov-level overpay. as in mid-level first round pick
sean durzi isn't that, but i do like him

I really like Harris but if Hutson becomes really really good, I could see MTL going Guhle-Hutson-Xhekaj
Guhle best overall, can log a lot of minutes
Hutson is the spectacular guy, PP guy
    Xhekaj brings the physicality

The right side will be Barron (meh all around right now)
    Mailloux (PP specialist)
But we lack someone with high potential to play with Guhle
Harris would be the guy right now but we will need an upgrade
Maybe Sandin Pellikka or Reinbacher or via trade/UFA

Yeah I was just looking on the NHL roster, we have a ton of LD prospects who are close or getting close. IMO Guhle is the best LD we have right now, one of Matheson or Eddy will stay (most likely Matheson since he is signed longer and we just acquired him, I would prefer Eddy though) then xhekaj is a bottom 4 guy and Harris is a top 4 guy, so it makes more sense to keep Xhekaj (who will be a cheaper option down the road) over playing Harris on the bottom pair. On the right Savard is here to stay, Barron is ready to be full time and Kovacevic is your bottom pairing guy next year. I don't mind having Harris as 2RD but anywhere on the 3rd pairing and it doesn't make sense. Also if we do draft or trade for a RD then Harris gets pushed out.

Yeah that's my future D corps too lol. Would love to get a guy to compliment Guhle to have that Weber-Petry esk kind of pairing

Barron is nowhere near NHL ready. His decision making are way too slow for the NHL. He’ll play in Laval next year IMO

Keep in mind that we'll be talking to you about Sean Walker (short-term solution) and Sean Durzi (who seems to be rounding into top-4 material) and Jordan Spence (long-term prospect), for various prices, of course. Don't think that we'll consider moving Brandt Clarke (virtually untouchable) or Helge Grans (won't get an LhD at the right stage of development).

In addition to Sandin Pellikka and Reinbacher, keep an eye out for Lukas Dragicevic and local boy Oliver Bonk.

I read on Dragicevic his game overall isn’t good, but because he producing a lot he might go in the 1st round. I could see MTL taking whoever is there with FLO pick between Sandin Pellikka and Reinbacher
