You aren’t getting a 26 yo 30+ goal scorer nearly ppg with team control for a discount like these trades. Y’all seem to greatly forget that San Jose can just keep him.

I listed a comparable for each of these packages. All of these were 30+ goal scorers (or on pace for over 82 games) at the time they were traded and all had RFA status. Top wingers like these typically seem to get less than expectation when they’re actually traded.

But to say "we don't have to trade him unless its an overpay because we can just keep him" is said for literally every RFA winger, and then theyre traded for less than the homer fans want/expect.

It literally just happened with Fiala and Debrincat. Happened before that with Reinhart and Buchnevich. Maybe once has the RFA with heavy trade smoke extended because the offers weren't good enough (Boeser)

Fiala every team knew Minny couldn’t afford him so He got less. Yes I’m sure every team has homers but it’s really true, the sharks don’t have to trade him. There are players that were true rentals last year that got more than the comps here so that’s why it has to be a haul. Could also use Tkachuk as a comp but I don’t see that.

Okay so there's 1 of 4 - and that did not stop Wild fans on this site saying that Guerin would figure out a way to keep him and move out other pieces instead, so even that doesn't actually detract from main point The point is that we have like, 5 or 6 RFA wingers recently who were all heavily rumored to be moved, all 5 or 6's trade value was "defended" on this site with the premise "we can just keep him if the offers are this bad", and only 1 was actually extended (Boeser, who looks like he might be traded for a trash return anyway)
