I already told you and i'll do it again, you're too intense. No bubble bursting. No grasping at anything. Just pointing out there's a huge chance the Islanders didn't give all that for a rental.
So your guess is they gave their 2023 1st and Raty for Horvat as a rental? That's your thought? I think that's very unlikely.
If Horvat extend with the Islanders before July 1st, then he wasn't a rental and that's why they paid so much.
If Dubois won't extend with any other team than MTL, then he's a rental for the 30 other teams, and would be worth a lot less than Horvat.
Lol. You've got a false narrative and are upset that it holds no bearing in reality so you accuse others of being too intense.
We have the fact that hockey insiders said, Vancouver did not allow anyone to speak to Horvat's agent before the trade. Yet you choose to stick to your narrative that the Islanders did tamper and talk to Horvat's agent ahead of time so that they had a good idea that he might resign in New York. Even though Horvat himself has said that he has not talked to the Islanders about an extension. But again, you are assuming Horvat is lying and had talked.
If Horvat signs with the Islanders now or before July 1st, it has no bearing on the fact that the Islanders traded for him as a rental. They had no way of knowing if he would or would not resign. Those are facts, not opinions.
Trying to stretch the signing period to six months, just shows that you know you have nothing to back your assumptions, so you're trying to extend the signing period as long as possible, so you can use that to back your faulty assumption if by coincidence he does stay in New York.
There isn't a single fact that backs your opinion or adds credence to your justification of lowball offers.
You may not like it, but facts back up what Jet fans have been saying all along. You won't get Dubois for a handful of valueless pieces, no matter how much you wish it. The Horvat deal has given us a good idea of what a good center will cost as a rental.
From that we can extrapolate that a full year minimum of a younger, better 1C will cost more than what Horvat returned.
