Why are the Caps giving the Canucks a 1st round pick? Mantha is not a cap dump...He still has value, especially when he will have only one year left on his contract...

If Mantha hit the Market there would be a-lot of suitors one of them being in TOR, this guy doesn’t know anything about value then again he’s a Nucks fan, he thinks he got 3 1sts for Bo so don’t bother

For those wondering why we'd get a 1st for taking on Mantha he's been healthy scratched this year and this is the second organization that has questioned his work ethic. Washington would love to get out from that contract whether you believe it or not. The price for taking on nearly 6 million in cap is the same as Calgary gave up to move a more useful player in Monahan.

I feel like Rathbone might be a good fit on Panthers, just because they have only one top 4 LHD in Forsling. Also, sending him to Arizona might be good because if they lose Gostibehere and Chychrun, Rathbone would be an option for 1st or 2nd pp unit, probably would be between him and Moser. Also the caps, all their D are pending free agents except Calrson. Pretty much any team that has an opening at 1st or 2nd pp, Rathbone would be a decent fit cause his specialty is offence. Its really a shame because we would have an opening for him if we didn't have OEL, Dermott and Stillman on the depth charts, three D men that aren't playing great.

Mantha is a change of scenery player, not a cap dump. The last time he needed a change of scenery, he was swapped for a quality player in Vrana.

There's no way you're getting a 1st round pick to take on his contract.

0% chance the caps give a team a first round pick for Mantha.

He prolly ranges anywhere from a 2nd in return to future considerations.

How many changes of scenery does he need before he finds his game?

He's been fine in Washington, people who only see "Mantha scratched" are seeing far from the whole picture. He was on a 20 goal and 50 point pace before being perplexingly scratched in favor of Lars Eller and other worse options because Laviolette seemingly doesn't like him, but he was playing fine and putting up points despite being stuck on a 3rd line with an offensive anchor (Eller). This is far from a case of Mantha playing poorly, especially as he's improved his defensive game since coming to Washington. He is not at all comparable to Monahan, who was playing awfully in Calgary and the Flames needed to dump salary, but this isn't the case with Washington who can bring back important free agents with Mantha salary still on the roster. Washington will not be using a 1st to dump him.

He's the type of player that needs to be in the top 6 every night with PP1 time to produce, sounds redundant but hes skilled enough to be that guy.

He needs to go to a young team that does not have 4 great top 6 wingers (not saying the caps do but they refuse to give him real top 6 time).

He can prolly be a 60+ point guy if he gets to have that role but he will likely always be a guy that does not get enough out of his talent.

He is kind of invisible if he isn't getting preferential ice time.

For those of you who are still doubting about Mantha you should read this and scroll down to number 7.

I didn't just pull my opinion out of thin air. These are credentialed reporters confirming what I've been saying. But go ahead and keep telling yourselves you know more then the guys who cover hockey for a living.
