Trades
1.
MTL
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
At this point i'm assuming Monahan is not ready to come back before the TDL, so he'll likely get traded for cheap and put on LTIR until the playoffs.
MIN
    Monahan TDL 23
    2.
    MTL
    1. Grans, Helge
    Additional Details:
Kings have a surplus of RD prospects, whereas it's a weakness of the Habs' prospect pool. Edmundson can help in the playoffs and mentor a young RD in 23-24.
    LAK
      Edmundson TDL 23
      3.
      MTL
      1. 2023 1st round pick (WSH)
      Additional Details:
I think we'll see a trade similar to the Romanov deal, with a pick around 20 because Harris has only played 1 season. Caps only have 1 D-man signed for 23-24 and this trade gives them a young, steady and cost-controlled LD. Habs have a LD surplus and Harris will be stuck behind Guhle/Matheson/Hutson/Xhekaj
      WSH
      1. Harris, Jordan
      Additional Details:
      At the 2023 draft.
      4.
      MTL
      1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
      Additional Details:
The value of this trade hinges on Dubois' intention of only signing in MTL (therefore signing a 1-year deal in WPG that leads him to UFA). If the reports are true, I think Cheveldayoff would be wise to get value before PLD walks. Dvorak slots into the middle-6 for short term, Roy is a quality prospect and the pick should be around 20 in a deep draft.
The value is actually better than what was obtained for Fiala or Trouba in similar situations.
      WPG
      1. Dvorak, Christian
      2. Roy, Joshua
      3. 2023 1st round pick (WSH)
      4. 2024 3rd round pick (MTL)

We might be interested in Jordan Harris, but we're not interested in Joel Edmundson. If the latter is such a good mentor, you guys should keep him to mentor Guhle, Xhekaj and Hutson . . . Drew Doughty and Alex Edler are better mentors than Edmundson will ever be.

Caps pass. Harris definitely isn't worth that and even if he was they are loaded at LHD with Fehervary, Alexeyev, and Johansen signed with Orlov most likely being re-signed.

In 24/25 Dubois will have either signed a mid to long term contract with the Jets, meaning you have no shot at him or will have been traded elsewhere this coming summer, meaning you'll have to try and pry him from his new team.

In this scenario, the trade happens at this upcoming draft, for the exact reasons you mentionned.

Okay, then if you upgraded Dvorak to an upper end prospect as Dvorak has little value to the Jets and added a little more you might be in the running. Right now you're offering a less than Horvat returned as a rental and expecting the Jets to wait a year for a late first. I'd imagine they say no and move PLD to a teams offering a deal built around a 23 1st.

Washington, while not having them contracted right now, has Alexeyev and Fehervary as RFAs with team control, I don't see them considering dealing a first round pick for Harris currently, and frankly I don't think any team would. Romanov was a much more enticing player to teams with his hitting and physicality, I don't think there will be another team to go head over heels for a defenseman now as opposed to a defenseman in the draft at that spot.
