horvat trade makes alternatives interesting

Description
I think having Miller at 8m is better than horvat at 8.5m.... I've always disliked that NYR offer, the Islanders gave up maybe a hair less value wise, but the rangers value looks better this year than it did last year.

I think in hindsight taking both trades is the right move, but I'd honestly rather trade Horvat than Miller given the circumstances.

Yeah, both trade proposals should have been accepted - but that is mainly because of the implosion this year. If that didn't happen it would be different story altogether. In hindsight NYR probably shouldn't have signed Panarin either, so we live with our mistakes.

Panarin is a top 5 forward in the show but he only wanted to be in NY so the offer should have been less but what exactly?

flat cap hurt a lot of teams

True, but it is also true they did a rebuild/retool and they got star talent too soon. Also don't understand why the didn't keep Jesper Fast given how good of a line that was...
It does hurt more now when Johnny hockey signed for less than 10 M, and for me they are similar players, similar signing age. But hey that is life.

No way you would prefer Miller than Horvat for 500k more ☠️ Center, two-way, not a defensive liability and similar-ish point totals.

Wrapped up like a pretzel trying to justify two bad moves - signing Miller to that albatross contract; letting the better player (& captain) walk for a meh return. And signing kuzmenko to 2 year deal, during which you won’t be competitive - should have traded all theee

When Horvat stops scoring and he will... it will be the biggest boat anchor contract in the league.

Miller has 44 points and 22 of them points are on the PP1. If you take away them 22 PP points, Miller now has 22 points in 49 Games playing top min 5 on 5. Chytil doesn't play PP1 like Miller does and playing 3rd line and has 29 Points in 41 Games. Chytil is 23 years old and is already better than Miller. Rangers decline the trade.

We'll see how he pans out in NYI. Van media will track it like crazy lol. Bo isn't really a two way center. He's a power forward who is a great face off guy. Van needed him to play the PK (Bruce leaned on him) for the face offs while leaning on their top guys. He also became a pp freak surrounded by a ton of offensive talent. Not sure that holds up. Both JT and Bo are very talented offensive players. I don't think either contract is particularly awful. JT may stick to a ppg game guy and Bo will probably be a 60 pt guy who owns the face off dot. But neither are overpayments in terms of the market.

Pretty sure JTM is never going anywhere, especially to a team he was previously on lol. He "is" the problem, everything else is just hockey decisions

100% i would.

Miller was better before this year, and has had one really bad year. Horvat is performing way above his head this year after being more or less an average 2C prior to this.

Unlike most fans, I'm able to see beyond the current moment in time.

Miller hasn't even had a bad year. He's now under the microscope with the $. His goal pace is up. This team became ok with losing. That's not okay. They had to make a change.
