Soucy cost

Description
Rentals but should be cheaper options than bigger names. Also leaves more space for another move if needed. Not sure about values but I could see both guys fitting in really well with what we need. Still not comfortable with our finishing ability in top 6 tho. Would love Meier.

i think JVR you are pretty close, Soucy i cant see them moving while they are in a playoff spot. I think Megna was a depth add in case of injury.

Yeah, I think I heard Friedman guess that they’d be fine waiting until offseason to talk extension with Soucy and probably aren’t worried about losing him for nothing if it comes to that since team is performing so well this year.

Have really liked his game for a while now though and was hoping Canes made move for him this offseason. CDH has been fine but I’d feel much more comfortable with him as 7D

    What about Mikkola ?
Edmundson McCabe & Gavrikov will be too expensive

I personally haven’t seen him a ton but from what I’ve read and seen I think that’s a nice cheaper option for that bottom pairing. Wouldn’t mind that move. I posted this somewhere else just now but I think blues and canes make a lot of sense as trade partners. Mikkola ROR Tara Barbashev Acciari.

Agree on other three being too expensive. I like those guys and they’d provide that extra edge that canes might need in playoffs but I wouldn’t and I don’t think canes will entertain giving up a first or more for any of them.

Is he a bonafide top 6 scorer at this stage? No. But he also provides something that we don’t have much of on this team and can likely be acquired for minimal assets. Not saying this is a move the Canes have to make but wouldn’t be surprised if they explored it and I think it makes the team better if only improving our PP with his net front.

if we are paying decent assets we should get a player who can play in the top 6 as well as improve the PP. Instead of paying for another 4LW that is going to be a PP specialist. Since that would be the case, nothing more than a meh pick a meh prospect.

I wouldn’t mind seeing somebody like that targeted but I also don’t think you’re getting that with retention for a couple of picks. I’m also not opposed to moving a first or higher end prospects if we get somebody back with team control that fits our timeline. This was an alternative approach and also still leaves room for another big piece technically.

The JVR package is about right. That would be our depth forward add, but makes me wonder if we scratch that if Kase comes back. Assuming we would also be going after a top-6 add if we can find what we want at a reasonable cost. Now Soucy was a big favorite target of mine in the off-season, but not sure if Seattle is willing to trade. But what about swapping Coghlan who is an RFA? Maybe retain a bit of salary to even the money out. A middle pick thrown in as well?

I don't think Soucy is untouchable by any means, but the Kraken are probably going to keep him through the season for a playoff push. Adding Megna doesn't change that. The only scenario where I'd see them moving on is if they acquired another defenseman to supplant him in the lineup (someone like Jake McCabe). In that scenario I'd probably place his value around a second round pick, or young NHLer and a mid-round pick.

JVR has 8 goals this year with the most protected ice time on the team (or close to it). For a team that constantly starts in his own end, he has an O zone start percentage of 59%. The guy isnt any good nor would he be a fit. He would be a 4th line, sheltered minutes on 5v5, and a PP specialist. Little interest in giving up that package for him. Even with retention, it barely puts him in the interesting category.
