Description

The trade is essentially Garland for Kurashev and a 2nd, but Vancouver then retains 50% of Toews’ money before he goes to Edmonton.

I think Vancouver should look into the market of retaining in deals, or taking on straight cap dumps for the remainder of the season, since they have some cap to play around with.

As for the Chicago side of this… is that fair value for Garland?

CHI should have 0 interest in Garland, they'd keep their younger player and instead flip Toews to a team that could afford him at 50%

Might be fair value for Garland but I don't see there being much interest. Kinda pulling for that lottery this year.

Chicago declines easily. Hawks like Kurashev a lot and he fits the rebuild; Garland does not.

Kurashev is 3 years younger, on a worse team, and has 3 less points in the same amount of games. This would be a downgrade

I did say 'might'.....but my bigger point was that Chicago would have no interest in Garland to begin with.
