The Kings have no interest in Patrick Kane. They're already stacked at top six wing and aren't prepared to give up significant assets for a rental winger, especially at that cost.

I'd hardly say stacked looking at their production. Fiala is the only point per game player. Kane would be 3rd on their points per game at the moment, and that's on an absolute horrible team. Kane on the right line with players skilled enough to put chances away makes everyone more productive too. Kane could easily have another 20 points this season, too many other Hawks buggering up great chances setup by him.

Turcotte is a risky asset given his concussion history and Kings seem to be okay at center for now.
Getting Petersen off the books gives back 5 mil cap space for next 2 years if Kane doesn't resign.
Hawks have been good with Stalock (seems to be a good locker room guy, his health is also a risk).

You may be right but I wouldn't rule it out that they have no interest.

Toews isn't worth a first any more. Avs pass.

That's up to Mr Sakic to decide. His PPG stats are comparable to Comphers, although with 3 mins less ice time per game and on a rubbish team, and also has the best faceoff percentage in the league, which I'm sure is valued come playoff time.
A motivated Toews could be worth a 1st if the Avs are in win now mode. I understand you don't have a lot of draft capital and may be reluctant, but who knows 🤷‍♂️

Kind of made my point for me. His PPG stats are comparable to the oft-maligned JTC who is a decent 3C who can step up if you need him to on occasion. Not a guy worth a 1st in a deep draft. The Avs also seem to place little value on FO%. They had one of the best in the league and finished bottom of it, and have had one of the worst and won the cup. Seriously don't see the Avs doing it, but like you said who knows (though it would be GMCM deciding these days). Someone may be crazy enough to do it on his past glories, but that's really all he has as a 'pro' over JTC and I don't think anyone would give a 1st for JTC. As far as the 'cons' go I hope it won't be the Avs as the other aspect is I want nobody from the 'hawks 'leadership' of that era anywhere near my Avs!

I don't see anyone giving up a 1st for McCabe. And Edmonton already has 3 LHD that are signed or under team control for 3+ more seasons, so I don't see them being overly interested in the player.

I think that you're stretching a little bit when you say "anyone" -- GMs do strange things at the trade deadline -- but I wholeheartedly agree with you that Edmonton won't give up a first for McCabe, even with 50% retention: it seems to me that all that would do is interrupt Broberg's development.
