Do you really think he is underrated? What pick would you actually give up for him? Most Jets fans including me would just give him away for nothing.
Has size, skates well enough and plays an economic game. Last year was playing 16 minutes a game and wasn't looking out of place per say. Worth asking if he still has that bottom pairing role this year has it not been for the injury making way for Samberg.
He was never a long term solution given the depth Chevy has created in Winnipeg (Morresey, Poink, Schmidt, Dillon, De Melo, Heinola, Samberg), but I don't think that detracts from what he can do.
Realistically, a team looking for an inexpensive bottom pairing option would certainly use him. Considering he still has contract control, I might argue a mid to late 3rd.
As a Leafs fan I would certainly kick that around the can. Stanley-Timmins bottom.pairing duo next year - frees up Timmins to be offensively creative will Stanley does his thing. Price Tag would be what? $2.5 million for the pair? That could be smart cap management long term..... and why I think Stanley has value to some organizations.
