Why do the Blues do this?

A 4th rounder in 25 and a 5 rounder in 21?

Alright then look elsewhere if you’re just looking for depth scoring.

Isles need to look at a defenseman too. 28-24 pairing was brutal yesterday. They are not a good fit for each other

Blues decline. That's not enough for Barbashev. I can guarantee someone will give a better offer than a C Tier prospect and a 5th 2 years away

no idea why you'd put those two together - I don't think either player is as bad as they looked last night but which of those guys do you expect to be the one pushing the puck forward? Sebastian Aho has been a surprisingly steady presence so why are we sitting him? And I get that they want to see Sam Bolduc with Noah Dobson, but like...now? When they need to be basically winning 2 out of every 3 games down the stretch? Why are we experimenting with rookies all of a sudden? I normally hate jumping on the "it's the coach's fault" bandwagon but I mean...dude just seems to overreact to things and can't seem to get out of his own way.

I didn't hate the Bolduc decision. He looked great. Tbh the guy who could have sat was Romanov. Have not been overly impressed with him recently

The Bolduc thing just confuses me on a few levels. First off, while I like the kid and think he will be a good NHL player, all of a sudden the team is full steam ahead with giving rookies significant roles? After jerking around Wahlstrom, Raty, Dufour, Salo, & Bellows (okay maybe that one was right), I'm just surprised that they're going all in with him. And honestly, I don't get why they wouldn't pair him with Mayfield and leave Romanov with Dobson - Romanov-Mayfield is just an awful pairing, stylistically, and feels like you're completely tanking your nominal 3rd pair for the sake of getting Bolduc with Dobson.

Again, I'm sure there's a hundred other things that go into it, and Lambert obviously has miles more coaching experience than I do, but it just feels like those kind of decisions fly in the face of conventional wisdom and, like you said, probably contributed to blowing a 2 goal lead against a pretty bad Vancouver team last night (oh, and thanks Anthony, glad to see you remembered how to score a GD goal the second you left the Island.)

Lol totally agree. Those are 2 points they cannot lose. Honestly if you could somehow squeak a first for both of Varly and Mayfield and flip that for Chychrun I think it's a good idea. Maybe get them to take back Bailey somehow too. Defense needs to be addressed

I don’t know why you keep thinking Florida could get a return like that for Duclair, who’s been injured all year and been inconsistent all his career…? Especially with the inflation of good wingers out there right now who doesn’t cost a thing, there are multiple examples of this with better players than Duclair and from teams that aren’t completely cap-strapped like Florida.

And Barbashev will at least get a 3rd, book it.
