Both trades suck for the Leafs. They can't afford another 10 million dollar player.

If you take Knies out then maybe. Leafs need young good forwards on entry level contracts. And I don't think Meier is the piece that puts the Leafs over the top. They aren't beating Boston or Tampa with this line up. They need to be patient.

I figured McCabe's stock would be rising, he has looked like a beast since the new year and especially in these last couple games. I'm happy to hear it! He absolutely should get a 1st without retention. I just wasn't sure if anyone would actually bite. I take all pundits with a grain of salt, but, generally, if Lebrun is saying something it is at least in the realm of possibility.
