Is the Boston trade something that could possibly happen? This would give Boston cap space and a hometown bottom 6 player. Florida would get stability on their defence.

Can’t see Clifton being moved, been pretty solid for us this year. Unless we were to acquire Chychrun and schenn then maybe we would consider but still highly doubt it.

Even if they did they would probably want cousins or lomberg in return, someone that fits our playstyle a little more. Colin white is pretty bad.

Also note florida is a div rival and in desperate need of defensive upgrades so B’s would take advantage of that especially with them no longer being in cap he’ll with hornqvist on LTIR till PO’s most likely

Bruins won't do that mid season, all the FO and the reporters have talked about leading up to the deadline last season was how defensive depth was a vital priority since that was a big part of why we lost vs the Islanders 2 playoffs ago when Carlo went down, so they broght in Lindholm and Brown last season, plus Clifton has been suprisingly good for what I expected from him so I'd be shocked if they were open to moving him until after the season

If that was an offseason trade I'd be all over it, I like that for the Bruins a lot, Reilly on your top 4 will not last, despite his usually very good analytics for a few seasons now he just doesn't have it in him long term

My idea here is that this is kind of a preparing move so that the Bruins can go all in and get a top 4 defenceman, think Gavrikov or Chychrun. They would have to part ways with Clifton but they would get the cap space for a bigger trade. Zito likes analytics and Florida is known to get the most out of their players so I wouldn't be surprised to see Reilly do well.

Is it possible that the first place team in the NHL willingly downgrades? Uhhh, no.

Uhhhhh okay, so how does that work? Where does white fit? Who’s playing bottom pair minutes for boston?

Well say they get Gavrikov and as someone mentioned Schenn, they could have a d-core of:
Lindholm-McAvoy
Gavrikov-Carlo
Grzelcyk-Schenn
(Forbort-Zboril)
It's definitely a stanley cup level defence and if you should ever go all in Boston should do it now.
For the offence they can pretty much roll with what they got and have White as an extra/see if he fits somewhere well. Just some extra insurance for when players get banged up during the playoffs.

Okay so they’re just willfully getting worse?
I like Schenn as a 7th d man, but he’s a downgrade from clifton.

I get that gavrikov is this years deadline guy that everyone forgets isn’t really good - but taking forbort out of the lineup for him would be a mistake.

Just seems like there’s absolutely zero benefit to boston here.
