Holy cow, we get a 4th to take on an albatross of a contract because we have the only guy Hoffman could be productive with?

    No thanks!

He would be on the last year of a 4.5m contract. Albatross?

    Maybe from the Sabres imo
I think we may look for someone either a little younger or who is signed for a little longer (or both)

    Sabres definitely won’t do that

We have 11 current-roster forwards under contract for next season, all of whom are keepers, plus RFAs Vilardi, Kupari and Anderson-Dolan, plus prospects like Turcotte and Fa-gem-o who might be contending for a spot, and our top 9 is definitely set already, so why would we want to clutter that up with one year of a 34-year-old one-dimensional $5 million guy?

Would think the Devils decline that rather easily

He would look great with the Kings TBH. Jordan Spence coming back this way… I think Bergy would consult positively on that deal.

But not really, you don’t have that kind of player. Anderson changes the way defenceman go into the corners in a major way (Muzzin has come right out and said it). Where is Holtz lining up for you guys down the road?

This. Devils don't touch this with a ten foot pole.

Holtz? Long term? Top six sniper with Jack or Bratt. Anderson hardly makes the lineup and costs an insane amount

For a 1st (that’s Spence’s worth to me)? We traded a first in a weaker draft as the main piece for Fiala, Bergy got the rights for Eddy for basically nothing, he’d be looking for more of those deals, than over paying for a struggling player.

I’m not even sure he is an improvement over Edler, and Edler has not been great as our 3LD.

Or the Devils could just play Holtz more instead of dealing with an overpaid bottom 6 guy

This is just like last year when people when get upset on here when we would talk about Chiarot bringing back a first. Just watch.

I’m not making any comment of the price, you are. And it’s hardly a similar situation anyway. I’m saying NJ could just play Holtz instead of trading him for an overpaid bottom six guy
