Meier trade is easily outbid. Generally speaking, CFACGM Leaf fans don't offer nearly enough value to acquire good players. You're bidding against other teams. Not yourself. Minor League plugs and unproven B level prospects won't cut it.

Same thing in the Chicago trade. You have to give a team a valid reason to make a trade with you. How does this benefit Chicago?

"Moving" Murray isn't possible without sweeteners. Not sure how the cap work next when RFAs want and deserve more $$$$. Anderson isn't a NHL regular and Minten is not a Leafs next season.
It's a cap league, and been even more cap heavy for top players doesn't make the Leafs better.
