Team: 2022-23 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 16, 2023
Published: Feb. 16, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
CHI
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (CGY)
  2. 2024 4th round pick (CGY)
CGY
  1. Domi, Max ($1,500,000 retained)
  2. 2024 5th round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
On 32 thoughts said flames were looking for a winger to help clear space for Huberdeau, not saying Domi is a perfect fit for that role but he’s a cost effective option that they could extend in the summer.
2.
CHI
  1. Foegele, Warren
  2. Puljujärvi, Jesse
  3. Schaefer, Reid
  4. 2023 1st round pick (EDM)
  5. 2024 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Obviously lots of things going on here but the price for Kane is a first + Prospect. The price for Lafferty is Foegele and the 2nd. JP is included to make the cap work.
EDM
  1. Kane, Patrick ($5,250,000 retained)
  2. Lafferty, Sam
3.
CHI
  1. Klingberg, John ($3,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
ANA: Holl, 2023 1st (Toronto)
Toronto: Klingberg 75% retained
Chicago: Klingberg 25% cap hit, 2025 5th round pick (Toronto)
ANA
Prediction: Chicago will not be able to sell off all of their tradable pieces so they will act as a broker in a 75% retention trade. Not saying this one specifically but insert whatever contract you want 75% retention on and give Chicago a 4th or 5th depending on cash value.
    4.
    CHI
    1. 2023 5th round pick (TOR)
    Additional Details:
    Holl and first to ANA
    TOR
    1. Klingberg, John ($1,750,000 retained)

Leafs easily pass, we want nothing to do with Klingberg and his defensive issues

Domi is 5’10” and has averaged only 0.45 hits/game over his career. And he’s been hitting less in the past 3 seasons. He’s a decent skater with some speed, but I’m not convinced this is the type of player Treliving/Sutter are thinking about as a guy to create more space for Huberdeau.

Why would the Leafs, or anyone for that matter, be interested in Klingberg for a 1st round pick?

Flames would definitely be definitely interested in Domi & Lafferty as solutions at 2RW & 4C

I like Domi and think he would be a good fit but I don't think the flames are in any place to move a 2nd this season for a rental.

Would be down to swap the years if that helps. 2024 2nd and 2023 4th (still sending 2024 5th however)

Maybe they shouldn’t be, but the only part I care about is a 5th for double retention. Could be the leafs, Tampa, some other team etc.
