Why? we are in the middle of a run for the Stanley Cup and not one player helps the Hurricanes become better

Anderson would be an Anderson would be an amazing piece and he has multiple years left in his contract. Also Edmudson is an reliable defense who could help with their defense

You clearly don’t understand the Canes position. Anderson holds no value whatsoever to the Canes, and the only thing he does good is hit. He doesn’t score enough to be paid what he is, he isn’t good enough defensively, so all he is really paid for is to hit. Adding the fact he has 5 years left on his contract makes it even worse. A cap team can’t afford to waste 5.5mil on a 3rd line musclehead.

As for Dadonov, he is a weak option if the Canes lose out on Meier.

And for Eddy, I’m pretty sure the Canes would love to have him back, but his contract isn’t ideal for someone who will play on the 3rd pairing.

So the Canes are giving up Fast, who is a big part of the chemistry on the J line, Suzuki, who is still a decent C prospect, and a first in a deep draft for 2 4th liners (on the Canes they would be) or healthy scratches if they are even played and a 3rd pairing dman. That’s a lot to give up and a massive waste for the cap space the Canes have available.

While I don't agree with our Cane friends evaluation of Anderson and Eddy, he is right the fit is not there. The Canes need a better 2C option not 2 more wingers. It's the reason they have been linked to Monahan lately, perhaps if it was Monahan retained and Eddy that might be enough to get you Zuke Jr and the 1st.

Anderson might line up with Fast in PPG, but he is more than Ryan Reaves. Not all points are created equal, and his goal scoring ability would be critical in the playoffs. Surrounded by better, healthier players, I’d also expect an uptick in production.

Not arguing that he’s the right fit for the Canes. But yeah, he’s more of a “hockey player” than some might be giving him credit.

I can tell you that the Canes are not legitimately linked to Monahan nor are they leaning toward "a better 2C". Their current 2C is playing a lot more like a 2C for the past two months. They are indeed more focused on a top winger, like Meier. I don't see any package on the Montreal roster that involves the Canes 1st. Edmundson retained holds out as a possibility of a trade in my mind, but not sure the chances there.
