That MTL trade is awful for the Leafs

Dubas would regret trading that 1st to Montreal for years.

Leafs need a tough D to play with Sandin because Holl and Timmins are not good enough. And they need a veteran goalie to back up Samsonov when Murray breaks his toenails again.

I think Washington could squeeze a second out of Sheary's production/contract, but if worst comes to worst, I'd take a third.

I wouldn't put tough and Joel Edmundson in the same sentence and you don't want to rattle Sammy's confidence IMO. If this is supposedly the year that Leafs fans (myself included) are looking as the go big or go home, I want Chychrun and another high impact player (preferably a number 3 so the top 4 looks like Rielly - Chychrun, Number 3 - Brodie with Gio - Lilly as our 3rd pairing.

I think it's likely that will happen with the 23' pick that Dubas gave to the Blues because this year's draft is supposed to be stacked. Just watch the Blues draft the next Pastarnak.

MTL would jump on that, but the main reason TOR would never do it is because of the Jake Allen extension
