Description
With O'Reilly, toews off the table, is there anyone who's actually available left that would make a significant upgrade for a playoff run keeping in mind Landy should be back in march

Henrique, Jenner, larkin.. are probably all to expensive and have some sort of no trade clauses

Domi, granlund, debrindicat.. are probably available but not sure they move the needle much.

Jeannot and frost...would also be good pick ups but I doubt they're available

Kuzy and konekny are the 2 I really want but it's a Longshot at best

Larkin isnt an option, Detroit is in the playoff Pictures
Jenner isnt available, never has been never will be
debrindicat isnt available, Sens came out and said they wont be moving him

Henrique is available, ducks have made him so for a while now and hes not going to be as costly
Domi is available, hes as pure rental as you get

granlund maybe is, depends if the preds become pure sellers or not

based on armstrongs comments about teams not wanting to move a 1st despite how good the player is, and Friedman mentioning he believes the Avs were in on ROR....gotta assume thats the Avs not willing to move a 1st for a rental.

So whoever the avs do target, its a rental that wont cost them a 1st or its something with term and on the younger side that they will justify a 1st for. IMO Henrique has always made the most sense for the avs and I believe hes the Avs smart buy at the deadline

Despite the standings and rumblings by the insiders I think bertuzzi is going to be available and affordable. He can play both wings and up and down the line up so he could be useful.

Fair enough, avs dont like giving up 1sts, but with no 2nds or 3rds in the cupboard they'll have to part with either a 1st or good prospect.. and at this point I don't see henrique as an upgrade over compher

I do like bertuzzi, and he plays the style I like, but the cost is likely high

Monahan could be very cheap since he didn't played a lot & would be a significant upgrade whenever he is back

Not sure 25 games is a sufficient sample size to accurately say he'd be an upgrade.. and with all of the injury trouble colorado has gone through this year I can't see them trading for monahan

Fair enough, I saw Monahan played 25 games and he was really good those 25 games
But I know he likely won't be trade or the return will be small
IMO MTL will keep everyone except Dadonov

A 6"3 230lbs scoring winger for a playoff run, with term and is affordable?

I'm sure someone will

Compher has priced his way out of Colorado this year and he deserves it.

Henrique at 50% helps and he’s an upgrade over compher defensively, compher lives a little too much off a rep of being solid defensively imo

He’s not though. He’s still poor skating and lack luster defensively. Monahan is a 3c who has flawed parts of his game and still makor health concerns

He’s not an upgrade over any current c option on the avs , just another guy of the same creed. as a player there is nothing wrong adding him at a low cost, but lets not pretend like hes an upgrade over guys who have played a consistently higher level that he has over the last few seasons just bc he had a hot 20 games to start the season.

That 25 games he was great
I defended Lehkonen when everyone were saying he’s just an average bottom six player
There’s not a lot of players I am defending on the Habs, but Monahan is a better player than Rodrigues & Compher
He isn’t bad defensively and he has the same skating than Lehkonen

I think a first will be on the table but just not the '23 1st. That's why Henrique still makes so much sense for the Avs. If it weren't for the injuries I could still have seen a hockey trade starting with Bennett & Girard similar to the Kadri trade happening but I think that may be out of the window now.
