This year is lost like it or not. Sell the expiring deals and try and find places for Carter, Kapanen. McGinn, and maybe Petry and Rutta. We have a lot of cap space to build a good team next year if we use it wisely.

True, but theres really nothing of value coming back and, even worse, NO buyers for any of those guys. And can they afford to just write off a year, when theres more likelihood that the team is worse next year?

The prospect pool is pretty weak, theres not tons of cap opening up, so they best way forward FOR THIS CORE GROUP is to move some picks now for talented, and youngish team depth, that could help now and moving forward.

I really don;t think that if the team can;t do it this year, that they're in a better position next. Poehling, legare, nylander aren;t the answer, but frost and vrana might be

First of all, I wasnt mentioning anything about this deal. 2nd of all, I was mentioning how you were wanting Guentzel for Vrana. Whether hes been in the AHL or not, hes only played a few games (I dont know exactly but it's less than like 10). So was it a joke saying Guentzel for Vrana? Cause now you have me confused lol

I was just saying guentzel for vrana is as bad as a deal as the one mentioned in this thread by the op. I obviously know 0% chance of it being realistic or happening or even close in value. I was just stating we wouldn't give vrana to a team that we are fighting for a playoff spot for the above package, so I went overboard in the other direction, to get him you give us guentzel which would never happen from a penguins perspective.
