Then Meier is gone, bratt will be gone, and the devils probably won’t be able to have sustained success.

I think you'd be better off skipping on Bunting and instead re-signing Graves then using the leftover money on a different, cheaper 3LW.

He said that last year in Bratt negotiations.
Fitzy already offered Meier more than $8 million in last 24 hours.
I am guessing they both end up in mid-8's

They both have QO's...$10 million and $5.45m. So if the two combined were to cost $17m together long-term, he could hypothetically qualify both at discount.

But not the smartest long-term move.

It’s just a flawed concept. Just because he got hughes at a steal shouldn’t determine the market for other players.

Also, Hughes was his first deal. Meier will be signing his third, Bratt his fourth. Both are one-year from UFA.

Its moot anyway, since its been reported that the Devils have offered Meier more than $8m.

I forgot honestly...one of the insiders (they all blend together) said NJD's first offer was in 7's, Timo was in 9's...they are now both in 8's
