-St.Louis want to get out of the Parayko contract due to his declining level of play.
-Calgary want to get out of the Weegar contract because he is not a fit.
-Calgary over values Parayko due to fetishizing his defensive style.
-Ottawa needs a top 4D, and doesn't care about the risk of the Weegar contract.
-Ottawa needs to dump contracts to add another big contract.
-Joseph is fine, but he isn't worth his cap hit or term. Forsberg may never be the same after having both legs removed.
-St.Louis takes the two bad contracts, which are off the books in 2-3 years instead of 8.
-Calgary swaps their sunk cost in Weegar for a defenseman with a similar cap hit who they prefer in Parayko.
-Ottawa takes a risk and adds Weegar.
-St.Louis gets assets from Ottawa. I personally doubt the market for Weegar or Parayko is that strong because of their contracts, which is why I would guess it won't take much in this scenario, even with Joseph and Forsberg (LTIR) going back to St.Louis. With that said, unless you're going to say Parayko is worth Pinto+1st like a maniac, agreeing 100 percent on the value doesn't matter much. It's more the format of the trade that is relevant, and whether the idea behind it checks out.
