I wasn’t really trying to be realistic but I would assume Matthews comes with an extension and when in the history of the NHL has an legit MVP player in his prime become available? The price would be higher than pretty much any trade in recent memory.

Close your eyes and imagine the Leafs losing to Tampa in the 1st round then the consequences. You think this team isnt going to crumble under the pressure?

Matthews is going to sign wherever he wants as a UFA. If he wants to play in LA, he will. If he doesn't, he won't. The Kings should give up absolutely nothing for him in a trade.

Canes said Nikishin was untouchable for Meier, arguably a better player. Why would he be available now for a lesser guy?

There has to be better options then Domi, JVR and Kessel their all washed up except Domi who doesn't play defense what so ever.

If you trade Matthews before the draft your giving up 2 first rounders for a real good winger, he!! trade all 4 #1 picks for 2 top wingers. Leafs don't need draft picks they need guys that can play today.

He played real good with JT and Marner but dumb ass Keefe broke that lineup.
