No reason to dump Scandella. He'll have some sort of value at the TDL or quite possibly even the draft if salary is retained. Probably not worth a lot but probably around a 3rd.

If we're paying to dump someone, Krug is the only one that makes sense. I don't think signing Compher is an awful move, but i'd rather take a flyer on a guy or sign a vet to a 1 year deal to see if Dean/Bolduc are ready yet.

I would accept that offer as the Anaheim GM.

Dont think its worth signing an expensivish free agent like compher rn. Think we either hope someone in house can adequately fill the role for now or get someone on cheaper 1 year deal. We absolutely have to move Krug this summer imo. Scandella is worth buying out or just riding out until tdl or even just letting him expire.

The reason to pay to move Scandella would be if they acquire a young defenseman that they needed to open up a roster space for, and assuming they can't move one of the guys with term. I like Rosen more than Scandella but if it's just Rosen over Scandella, might as well keep that second round pick. They don't really need the cap space.

3C is a need, but I think the only UFA they give more than a year or two would be if O'Reilly or Barbashev are interested in returning, otherwise they'll either acquire someone that's young-ish and has something to prove (ala Kapanen/Vrana) or is older that they don't have to really commit to (Eller, Haula). Lot of forward prospects coming up, so doesn't really make sense to give a bunch of money to Compher.

Even if a situation arises where they need to move Scandella, it will not cost a 2nd to do it. He has one year left and is only overpaid by 1M or so. I'd have no problem with him sticking around if the cap isn;t needed.
