Why would Winnipeg just hand over PLD for free? And yer just giving away all those guys to aniheim for free? This is weird. And I doubt the sabres are just trading Levi to the Habs, even if the habs pay more.

I'm willing to bet in 18 months this is proven wrong.

In the 2024 offseason he'd be a ufa, so it's not a real trade, and all those players to Anaheim is just getting them off because why would be traded to random teams for picks prospects or dmups. Not actually all of them to anaheim.

its called FREE agency......

Fair if sabers dont want to move Levi, most teams wont move a goalie prospect they believe to be their future number one, but also that would be an insane price for mtl to even consider.

Too much to expect in the given timeframe. That's a lot of turnaround and a significant lack of veteran experience.
You can't just throw all of your prospects together without that support and expect them to develop properly.

Contracts are likely overpays based on where those players are now, and where they project to be in 2 years.
The worst one is Montembeault. I give him full credit for improving under difficult circumstances, but it's not enough to be worth that kind of investment. You can get similar in free agency for less and it will be the same roll of the dice as keeping Montembeault.

Levi isn't being traded because it would be irresponsible to offer even half of that proposal, and they already made their choice for the future when they traded Portillo.
This would be like us trading Halak and then trading Price, only there's maybe a 1% chance Levi is anywhere near as good as either, there's still a chance.
Same reasons we wouldn't have traded Primeau and had to follow his development through to whatever conclusion there was.

I didn't want this to be in 2 years, preferably 5 or whatever, but cf only allow 2 years in the future

Uh in case you didn't notice, IT's called Offer Sheeting. The team signing the plkayer has to give up draft picks.

states right at the top 24-25 season meaning the offseason leading into it Dubois would be a UFA unless he resigns a long term extension with the jets which doesnt seem likely. So again no, its free ageny and he would walk for free.
