trade deadline 23-24

Created by: jaok3
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 10, 2023
Published: Mar. 10, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Now l know people are going to shoot me with this idea. What the leafs can do is use the picks for trades for established players for the 24-25 season. Idk the value at the deadline for Matthews, Nylander and Brodie, just an idea if the leafs are having issues resigning Matthews and Nylander. The ROSTER BELOW DOESN'T MATTER.

If they traded either player it wouldn't be in season as that wouldn't get enough return. And the returns would be astronomical for both.

That's the point l'm trying to make. Then they flip all the draft picks for roster guys on other teams that would be available.

Hope you are correct, just making another case scenario if they wouldn't be able to reach a contract for Matthews and Nylander. If they aren't able to resign them the leafs can't afford to let them walk for nothing like in the past.

I think Matthews to Edmonton makes more sense, TBH. He and McDavid and fairly close (they train together in offseason) and the opportunity to put those two together would be attractive to both Edmonton and Matthews. (Don't forget, with a full NMC, Matthews has 100% control over where he goes at the deadline).

Dubass even gave the Zamboni driver a NTC contract.

The NMC might mean less of a return than hoped... which in turn might convince Dubas to keep Matthews as an internal rental, hoping a deep playoff run convinces him to re-sign.

Your point appears to be to give Matthews and Nylander away for pennies on the dollar because you are not getting comparable players with these paltry assets.

If Matthews and McDavid wanted to play together, McDavid would sign in TO the year JT ends his contract. Not in Edmonton.

The whole concept here is that Matthews will already have moved on.

Now that would be a crazy team with Matthews, McDavid and Marner. Idk what the cap situation would be at that point?

Idk what they would get for them at the trade deadline but they can't let them walk for free if their unable to resign them.

And? They would both get astronomical returns.

Not necessarily. Matthews has a full NMC, fine choses to waive for only one team the return wouldn't be any better than what's listed here. Nylander has a 10-team no-trade list so there could be a bidding war for his services.

Doesn't matter, both are top end players and would get absolutely major major returns. This troll hope of seeing TO lose them for nothing is stupid
