Dubas is trigger happy Sandin trade could end up haunting the Leafs

Created by: ALjet12
Team: 2022-23 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 12, 2023
Published: Mar. 12, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Even taking the first rounder and a replacement player in consideration which is still fair value for the player at the time. You don't give up a 23 year old top 4 puck carrying quarterback when you still have full control of him and are not strapped for capspace. Short sided move on Dubas even if the Leafs make it past the first round. Dubas should of put Keefe in his place before making the trade. This will cost Dubas his job .

you mean slightly higher than the pace he put up in bottom paring minutes with the leafs? yeah, that wouldnt be surprising at all if he got an extra 5 or so minutes a game. That's significantly different than the 164 point pace he's running with the caps so far.

I am not saying that he going to put up the pace he is on now thats unrealistic but is he a top 4 dman can put up points on a team top powerplay absolutely

and every single person who knew anything about sandin knew this already. But they also knew he was never going to get that shot with the leafs because he simply could not earn it.
Hell, if the caps weren't so devastated by injuries he wouldnt get it there either and it's basically the perfect situation for him right now

I bet you this Sandin is consistently a 35-40 point player every year.

And since he never got much PP time with the Leafs because Reilly plays LHD on PP, he if ever got PP time with Washington, even more points

It’s been freaking incredible

I personally think that Sandin just needed a change of scenery to a team that would play him and WAS has done that to a team

The trade is a win-win scenario where the Leafs have a lot of one thing and needed to gain more asset to continue their farm system

Yeah because you have a competent coach you knows how to make his lines

Laviolette is not what I would consider to be a "competent coach" lol, most of us don't like him here in DC
