  1. Vladar, Daniel
Additional Details:
Example trade, something along these lines where Calgary brings in a decent prospect and an under 1M depth player.

Plenty of teams will be looking for cheap goaltending for next year and Vladar has shown flashes of being a starter despite what the stat readers will say.

Good thought on the trade. Satisfies both teams IMO.

I like it. Benefits both teams. Just wonder if CGY has use for basically another Välimäki, namely a Finnish former first round pick unable to break into the lineup. He's already turning 23 by the start of the next year so he's not the youngest guy around.

He's likely waivers bound anyway, according to the site.

Hard to say, one thing for sure is Calgary definitely should ve looking to add some young defensemen since Tanev, Kylington, Hanifin, and Zadorov all expire in a year. I think some of them will come back but no guarantees

As a Sens fan, I wouldn't be too mad about this trade but I wouldn't do it myself. I'm not sold on a tandem of Forsberg/Sogaard, but Forsberg/Vladar doesn't seem much better. Especially considering Vladar's $2.2mil cap hit starting next season when we need to resign DeBrincat and Pinto this offseason, Sanderson next season.

I expect they probably try and dump Joseph this offseason to afford Cat and add a goalie. I don't think they can go into next year with the current tandem. Vladar is solid and cheap. Calgary goalies just don't face a lot of shots each night so even when they let in only 1 or 2 from high danger chances their sv% still looks bad

i dont think ottawa wants to keep just doing 1B's or slightly a 1A. I think the next step for ottawa is to get a elite goalie (saros or could explore a gibson or demko trade)

Sure but how exactly do you afford that without trading out a core player? The point here is that Vladar is young, cheap, and has starter potential. This was also an example trade as I said above. It doesn't have to be Ottawa but there will certainly be a market for cheap goalies this summer if the cap doesn't go up

Lol so how does that work when Pinto's, DeBrincat's, and Stutzle's raises hit this summer? In that ACGM that you have set for the current year Stutzle is making 925k, he makes over 8M next year

Honestly I hope Sens do something like this. Thomson and JBD barely have room, they should move one of them in a trade imo

Do you have a preference between the 2 moving forward?

Idk tbh. JBD is a stabilizer defensive Dman that won’t give you any offence . And Thomson is an offensive Dman that’s a little below average defensively . They both deserve a longer look than they’ve gotten.

The problem is they were never gonna play with another young player in Brannstrom or a rookie in Sanderson or even Chabot because it’s too much to start on the top pair.

They both deserve to get full time 3rd pair minutes with a good veteran and a chance to work their way up the lineup but they haven’t gotten that chance.

I can’t say who will be better because I don’t think they’ve gotten a long enough look
