23-24 Blues

Created by: Jchockey12

Initial Creation Date: Mar. 20, 2023

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I simulated Tankathon 3 times for the Blues to get Bedard.

I could see Krug getting moved for Future Considerations but he does have some value and would be a great addition to a young Detroit team. Krug waives his NTC because he grew up in Michigan.

Colorado could certainly match the offer and trade another D-man instead but I was hopeful in this scenario (Very hopeful) but I think that if Colorado does have a prospect that they love drop to a later pick like that, it is certainly possible.

It pains me to take out Nieghbors but I realllllllly wanted to sign O'Reilly. I think a 4x4 is great value and O'Reilly could take a discount to return as the Blues captain.

Now ALL of these things happening in an offseason is extremely unlikely, but if they did.... I think this team makes the Playoffs easily.

  3. 2024 2nd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Colorado deals Byram to STL because their cap is so tight they can't resign Byram. This deal happens at the 2023 draft because the avalanche still see a player they highly value at the Rangers pick and get more for Byram than the compensatory picks.

Detroit doesn't want Krug for free, let alone trading a pick for him. Hard pass.

If Colorado would move Byram I'll trade for him instead of taking Krug off your hands.

I'm sure the blues would too then. Throw in that other first we have.

I'm sure you have a close and personal relationship with Stevie Y to get this info straight from Detroit then?

You could literally look at Detroit roster and realize there isn't a fit there. Not many teams are looking for LHD and Krug has a big contract with alot of term left. He's going to be a difficult move.

Byram quite simply won't be traded. The Avs would move Girard, Toews, or someone else to make cap space if they need to.

Krug wanted to come home in free agency, So Yzerman could've signed him and chose not to. At 5'9" Krug is just too small for our blue line. Basically right now our blue line is 6'2" and taller just the way Yzerman likes it. Giving up a 2nd for a LHD that's on the wrong side of 30 makes no sense.

I'd have money on it that the Avs wouldn't even consider that.
