Habs Fans who are we drafting

Created by: Lafleur10

Description
Obviously some variation between where the players are projected to go now and where the picks are, also assuming that some players to be available at places different to where they are currently projected. Would really enjoy discussing who other people think MTL should draft, in particular if MTL takes a shot at Mitchkov if he's available around 4-5th overall. Also more suggestions for players we could go out and trade up to get.

I believe with the Montreal pick, you would choose the best player available. So if it’s 4, 5OA, and all three of Bedard, Fantilli, and Michkov are gone, you choose Smith, or Carlsson. That will be the top 5 in my opinion. Not necessarily in that order, but it will consist of those players.

Was kinda assuming that the draft goes 1.Bedard 2. Fantili 3. Carlsson. If Montreal gets the option of players that you said completely agree, just focus on drafting the best players available, still hoping that either we can drop past Anaheim or have Mitchkov fall

I assume that Michkov will drop out of the top 5 with the ongoing Russian saga.

Really depends on if a team decides to take a risk, I think he definitely falls out of the top 3 just with how good Bedard, Fantill, and Carlsson are but who know after that

Assuming Bedard, Fantilli and Carlsson are 1-2-3, i think MTL list should be :

Smith
Michkov
Benson
Dvorsky

I think we take the risk on Mitchkov, with Smith as the backup plan if he ends up going 4th.

Assuming no lottery movement, I'd like to see Smith (or the best player available) at #5 and a trade of the Florida pick to move down and select a RHD (if they don't make the playoffs) and Hrabal.

Dragicevic and Hrabal are the ones I'm interested in, but you could probably make an argument for others, and Hrabal might be in reach of our 2nd if we don't trade down for an additional pick.

We have enough promising forwards in the system and can grab more in later rounds, but we have a need for high end RHD and G in our system.

I got Smith ahead because he could be the 1C MTL need.

Michkov is the 2nd most talented player this year after Bedard. Not sure how low he will fall, but i think MTL should draft him over Benson or Dvorsky.

Long time Habs fan here!!
I'm not sure that the Habs would end up picking the best player available judging by the last couple drafts to tell you the truth!
Even if they got the #1 pick they might pick Fantili which is also not a bad pick but......
They could have had Tkachuk and Wright or Cooley right now but we all know how that went! Just saying.

I think it depends on which team is picking third. If it is Anaheim, assuming it goes Bedard, Fantilli no matter what, I think they may look into picking Michkov. However, if you are Montreal, and all three of Carlsson, Michkov, and Smith are there, for me, it really depends on who of the three you think can fit into the system the best, and what you think of Kirby Dach. If you think of Kirby Dach as a 2c for years to come, then maybe you choose the winger in Michkov. If Dach is more of a winger in your eyes, you go one of Carlsson, or Smith. No matter who you pick out of Bedard, Fantilli, Michkov, Carlsson, and Smith, you are getting a very good player regardless. In my opinion, Carlsson, Michkov and Smith are all very close to each other in terms of skill, and I would be very happy with either one of them if I was Montreal.
