Bedard to Columbus or Anaheim would be very fun. That is for sure.

Hypothetically,
If the sharks get the 1st OA and you guys get 2nd OA how much would you be willing to give up to move up to get Bedard over Fantilli?

one of our mid tier d prospects and maybe a 3rd or something. Like Svozil, Knazko etc...
too much d crowded room for the future, depends on what the sharks want and how much disparity you believe between bedard and fantilli there is

going on his 3rd 30 goal pace season, what defines top 6 for you?

gotta think you could get another top sixer at LAK pick too (or the 2024 CBJ pick)

He is a middle 6 forward. He slots in very nicely as a 2nd line LW or a 3rd line C. You definitely don't want him as your number 1C or even #2 C though.

Slotting him in the top 6 is perfectly reasonable though.

Just like Bunting in Toronto. He is a middle 6 guy, but he compliments the true top line and 2nd line guys.

You look at stats for the year he is tied for 62 in goals and 144 in points. You remove the 20 odd D ahead of him and divide by 32 and come up with him being roughly 4th best scorer on an average team meaning for a high level cup contender he might be a middle 6 sniper but on an average team he is absolutely a top 6 guy.

This no where close to enough to move up 1 spot to 1OA in the draft. It'd cost us 2OA + Jiricek + more

Normally I would argue the difference between 1st and 2nd OA isn’t huge. The difference this year is while Fantilli is very good/ elite prospect, Bedard is a generational talent and I would ask for the 2nd OA the LA 1st plus a top 4 RD prospect.
I am only considering this because sharks have a plethora of good but small F prospects and only 1 legit top 9 guy with size, so Fantilli would be a better fit IMHO. otherwise sharks will need to trade a few of their smaller prospects for bigger options.

I would postulate Jiricek would be off the table but the 2nd OA LAK 1st and your 2nd best RD prospect could do it. Would that be fair?

That's an interesting question with the specific context of San Jose and Columbus. I don't think the cost would be worth it for Columbus in the end, as Fantilli is just as good a fit with Columbus's small guys. Bedard is generational, but I won't be sad at all to end up with Fantilli or Carlsson as they're both big true centers.

you have to assume that late 1st rounder is a lottery ticket and probs ends up being nothing. And our 2nd best RD prospect is meh. You guys would need a lot more if we were to try and trade up one spot.

I’m just trying to be reasonable as it’s only 1 spot but I really want one or the other if Fantilli or Bedard and I like Fantilli size speed combination as his game fits better to what the sharks are needing.
