And still they're the joke of the league, They need to go to Houston or elsewhere to save that franchise. Because it's definitely not happening remaining in Arizona.

Colorado declines. Arizona sucks for not grabbing him when they could

Agreed, but I don't like Houston as the relocation spot. I'd prefer Quebec, but Houston would probably be my next realistic choice

Bettman would have all the teams in the be US if he could. That's why Quebec got pushed aside when it came to the last expansion even though they had an arena and the money to do it. Quebec would be my favourite target if not then maybe Houston or Kansas.

I know that the average hockey fan rarely gets into the details of any relocation they cry for but one little tidbit to consider is that the owner of the Coyotes holds 1 of 5 in arena betting licenses issued by AZ. That license alone is worth well over 5x what the Coyotes are currently worth. Moving the team out of AZ loses the license. The owner is putting 2B of his own cash on the table for the new arena/entertainment district, no public funding needed (which would be required in any relocation spot), and the estimated break even on that 2B is 2-3 years of betting revenue.

Makar is a bad target for a top D. He would be amazing but far to costly and it would be an in-division trade which are always harder. If a trade is needed, then go for a guy like Boquist or a veteran on a failing team like Josi. Vancouver is headed for another implosion; Q. Hughes might be wanting out and available fairly soon.

You're right I guess. I hate that about "Buttman". Well, Houston then. Otherwise Kansas City or Milwaukee?

Quebec would be a terrible spot, unbalances the West again, necessitating a move of some eastern team, which causes travel issues again.

Quebec wasn't a viable expansion because there is no increase in market, it's just dilution of an existing market, much like Hamilton, you're poaching from a current fan base to support a new team.

Kansas City, Houston, Milwaukee/Green bay or Salt Lake City would be better options to continue the league growth in viewership and revenues.

I don't what is more unrealistic the trades, signings or the proposed cap.

Regarding new teams in the NHL....Untl the NHL has big $$$$ TV contract....and that isn't happening, the league is gonna have to depend on ticket paying customers.
I don't know of any cities that would support the a NHL team long term. The league now takes money from rich teams and gives them to poorer teams, so in effect the 32 teams can't really support themselves individually.
