if the reports of him wanting out are real, why give up anything? at this point just offersheet him to a smaller one year deal, if he signs it you get him for cheap if jets match they cant trade him for a year and then you can negotiate with him in free agency.

in my head i was pushing dubé at 3c then anderson and xhekaj are added to the lineup while staying under the cap by a few M. do you not think they're way better off like that?

because you don't want the latter to happen. If you can get a young physical top 6 c for that price you do it. we shouldn't gamble with him

If the habs dont move up in the lottery then yes i agree, if they do and get fantilli then i would be more than happy to risk it. Especially considering the amount of young talent that will need to be lock up in a few years, may not want Dubois eating 8 mil of cap space at that point.

why? mesar won't make the team, with how many wingers we have, Dvorak is not needed if we have dubois and the first won't give us something we need either.

re-read what I wrote, i'm not worried about dvorak at all, but Dubois is going to get paid on his next contract. He will probably going to be looking for around 8 mil, while lining up on the wing. Over the next 2 - 3 years theres going to be a bunch of players to lock up all coming out of elc's cap flexibility will be very important then. Mesar may very well make the team, most likely a few prospects wont live up to expectation, but its a numbers game so why play the odds, a mid first rounder could very well turn into a solid player, so i wouldnt write off florida's pick.

I just dont see this desperation to go after Dubois if we draft Fantilli.

i get what you mean but dubois is a sure thing! he's not a gamble and i'm sure he'll take a reasonable contract. don't see it as one or the other but as only one or both. we don't have many big contracts so we can get away with having them both on the team

hhmmm i think that might be delusional... anderson might not be that much better then backlund but he'll cost less, play in a position of need and fit the hard hitting style you guys seem to want to play. And that without accounting for arber who's on a great contract for two more years while replacing one of your overpayed d.

Lol what? In what world is "winger" a greater position of need? "Cost less" is a difference of 350k. For the difference in player skill i would be more than happy to spend the 350k difference

Im also ignoring Wifi just as much as im ignoring the 1st you snuck in there. Which is being extremely generous to Arber's trade value. And which one of Calgary's defense is overpaid?

does zadorov's name strike a bell? and as much as i like advanced stats, Anderson's strenght are not what are measure... he hits hard and skate fast. what i meant by position of need is that you guys need a top 6 rw and not a middle six center.

and arber is a great and cheap option for a contending team... i'm not sure if you guys want to be that one day but that might be a good start

I just think backlund is so much more useful to them than Andersson who's a one dimensional guy. Adding a 1st is just way too much.

Zadorov has been very solid for most of the year. He's not overpaid except when he's in the penalty box. Considering Wifi has significant more box time in way less games, and Anderson has roughly the same I would say that doesn't solve that issue at all.

So you are trying to sell me on hitting and speed. Thats what Brett Ritchie did. Also there is not a single team that would ever consider Anderson a top 6 RW. He is purely a bottom 6 power forward. Im confident Backlund will average more ice time than him for the rest of their careers

Flames would be interested in Arber Xhekaj, but they should have absolutely ZERO interest in Lucic 2.0 = Josh Anderson or Trading Away Mikael Backlund

Only MTL Players we are interested in that might be available are Kirby Dach, Owen Beck, Riley Kidney, Arber Xhekaj, Johnathan Kovacevik, Dennis Gurianov, Sean Farrell, Dmitri Kostenko and Daniil Sobolev

Flames Trade Bait: Oliver Kylington, Nikita Zadorov, Daniel Vladar, Adam Ruzicka, Connor Zary, Yan Kuznetsov, Kevin Rooney, Martin Pospisil, Mathias Emilio Pettersen, Ilya Nikolayev, Nic Meloche & Jake Boltman, Cole Jordan and Draft Picks

That's putting it lightly too. Backlund will finish top 10 in Selke voting this year with a strong chance of top 5. The sheer concept of ever swapping Backlund for Anderson is hilarious

Pens pass. We already have Pettersson and Joseph down the left who are better than Edmundson, and I'd rather play Ty Smith at 3LD. I don't think Edmundson would be an upgrade to our D core.

His production and his play as been one of a top 6 rw. he's on pace for a 25 goal season and that's on a very very bad team. yes he's a streaky player but he seems to have found a certain consistency this year. and my fault for backlund i didn't know he had such a good season. i mostly chose him because of his cap hit so sorry for not doing my homeworks...
