Murray should return like a 6th or something like that... worst case, buy him out

Eating 6.25M in capspace to move up like 10 spots in the draft?
I mean maybe since we're not cap constricted, but not a particularly thrilling idea.

So I'll take Murray but the return depends where that pick ends up.

I really like this lineup all around. Though I do think Knies is probably on the team next year. Maybe not though

Murray has only a year left on his contract and Wings need a backup goalie. So it makes sense.

Some people say Murray is a Cap dump and others say he has positive valueHuh? If he is a Cap dump, I would not send a high 2nd round pick back.

Then you're not getting a 1st back 🤷‍♂️

Mrazek was a pure dump with term and only cost the Leafs 13 draft spots. Murray was dumped to the Leafs for a 3rd and a 7th when he was playing significantly worse and had term. He definitely has positive value as a rental

No 2nd going back to help a division rival with cap space

I'd be very content with signing Donato. Really wanted him last season. I feel like a Brown reunion probably isn't in the cards for the Leafs though. If we want a player like him, maybe a guy like Compher on a 2 year deal isn't such a bad idea. Considering you have an additional 2 mil in capspace here, I think the Leafs could afford him

Yes to the trade without the 2nd. We can send the rights to nedelikovic so they can sign him before July if they want.

Detroit declines. We'll just sign a UFA backup goalie. Trading back a 2nd yeah right. LOL

Cap hit is less than 4.7M. I take this deal.

Depending on where that pick lands. Moving up like 16 spots to get a goalie that has a save percentage over 0.900 isn't a bad deal. It would have to be the latest of our seconds.

Not interested in giving up high picks for a trade like that. It's not a smart allocation of resources.

You are gaining a higher pick. It's not a bad way to move to the draft and fills the hole of back to tender.

For 6.25 million for an injury prone goaltender that's bounced around the league. If we are sending a 4th back I'll bite. Maybe a 3rd but not a second. Not to mention a Bostons first this year is basically a 2nd anyway and Vancouver's 2nd will be like 8 picks away. Not enough to take on that salary.

Plus we need a backup goalie who can actually be healthy enough to play. Otherwise we'd be looking for another goalie to replace him. Good luck finding a good one during the season.
